All those acronyms what does it all mean:
Wondering what all the acronyms after therapist’s names mean? Here is a brief explanation to help you decipher who will best fit your needs.

MAC: Master of Arts in Counseling
MSW: Master’s of Social Work
RC: Registered Counselor; may or may not have a masters degree but is registered with the Department of Health
LMHC: Licensed Mental Health Counselor: completed a master’s degree, fulfilled the State of Washington post graduate requirements of 3,000 client contact/supervision hours and passed licensing exam
LMFT: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist: completed a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, fulfilled the Sate of Washington post graduate requirements of 3,000 client/supervision hours and passed licensing exam
LICSW : Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker: completed a master’s degree in social work, fulfilled the State of Washington post graduate requirements of 4,000 client/supervision hours and passed the licensing exam
CHMS: Child Mental Health Specialist
CDP: Chemical Dependency Professional
M. Div: Master of Divinity
M. Ed: Master of Education
