Their story, yours, mine-it's what we all carry with us on this trip we take, and we owe it to each other to respect our stories and learn from them.
Robert Coles
We all desire to be loved unconditionally; to be able to develop and maintain intimate relationships, and live a dynamic life. These desires can bring great joy but also great pain and problems. Because I believe most human problems are relational in nature, we will not only address the specific problems that have brought you into the counseling office but also the nature of your relationships with the significant people in your life. Through the telling of your personal story, we will explore how your way of relating enhances and impedes the relationships around you. I view the counseling process as a collaborative relationship in which the engagement between you and I will be an affective tool for understanding how you may connect with the people in your world. But also, to provide the support and insight needed to find practical solutions for lasting change so that you can fully live with hope and freedom. Respecting and drawing upon many therapeutic approaches, I primarily utilize the relational, existential, psychodynamic, and family systems approaches.
